Laerug Saddlers

The Waterpigs really is a versatile creature. From fishing, to transportation, even to war, the people of Elcadaver use the beasts for nearly everything in freshwater. Which means it was only a matter of time before someone decided to race them.   The sport was creatively dubbed, Pig Racing, and once people realized they could place bets on the animals, the sport took off like a pig out the gate. Taking a special liking to the races where the two kings of Laerug and Agterlywe. The two countries were already famous for their ability to along, and when each heard the other was a fan, they knew what had to be done. Each started their own breeding program, and the Pig War was on. It was a heady couple of years, with several scandals, multiple contested finishes, and a near outbreak of actual war, until an international coalition was formed to standardize the rules. Out of the Pig War, came two breeds of racers that would dominate the track for the rest of the century. From the north, came the Agterlywe Sprinter, a pig that could take an early lead by several lengths, but struggle to maintain it. And from Laerug came the Saddler. The Saddler takes a while to build up speed, but once it gets to top speed, it stays there. And stays there.   Off the track, the saddler's endurance has made it a popular choice around plantations. Drag-behind fishing has been growing ever more popular since the breed became available to the general public.
