On Wahar

An excerpt from a report to Tarkus from explorer Leopold Escariot Fant VI.   Honorable Dragon Emperor Tarkus,   I have taken my initial review of the continent of Wahar based on local testimony. Though I shall profess that I am merely viewing a vast painting through the tiniest of keyholes at time of writing.   I arrived in the quaint port city called "Path's far reach" near the southern tip of the land. It is a rather...rustic village by my tastes. A rough trading and merchant port where goods flow in and out, as do the pirates by the looks of it.   It's connected to "The Ratun Path" a massive and ancient highway of impeccably placed and maintained stone nearly half a mile wide at all times, if not wider. This path runs along much of the continent, and it's name has seemingly changed many a time in history. The Path is maintained by ancient stone Automatons, that also do not allow warfare on its path.   This connection, along with the one to the sea, does provide me plenty of opportunity to hear information about the nations and people's beyond the port. My light summary of rumors is below:
  • The Jungle that this small port connects to is called the Krashiiti Jungle. It's a dangerous place to be sure, my few jaunts outwards into it have proven this. Wild humans, lizardfolk, angry plants. I did not encounter them, but I am told that the Tortle people's stone homes dot the jungles, and they call the region their home. There are apparently ruins aplenty and treasures more in that Jungle, but most stick to the safety of the path and do not risk such danger.
  • Not too far east is the Lakri Swamp, a massive...well swamp to be sure. But the swamp is noted for its mysterious guardians who harass all who pass through, even risking the wrath of the Paths Guardians. The locals just call them "fuckin metal leeches" but that is most certainly not their real title.
  • Beyond the swamps lies the Sanviten Baronies. I am told this region used to be a proud nation of wizards and warriors, but those days are gone. It is now a land of Vampires and Dhampirs. The idea of such filth having their own nation disgusts me, but some travelers swear it is not as horrid as it sounds. How that would be the case I know not.
  • On a small outing of land lies the remains of the original owners of the land to which the baronies call home. The Sanviten Regency is all that remains of this so called proud nation. They viciously defend their remaining home and are apparently renowned wizards and warriors as previously mentioned.
  • On the opposite coast is the Torva'Reph. A most interesting location. It is all that remains of the ancient colonies that the Torva'Ir of Kalin raised in this land. It is apparently a place of grace and stubbornness that refuses to bow to both the baronies and any foreigners. It sounds positively elf like.
  • Further north of the Baronies is contested territory and then the cold island nation of the Vintar Tribes. They are a proud Warrior people, who have also lost much to the baronies. They remind me much of the Gir'An of your continent from the sounds of them.
  • Furtherest north east is Nebenroya, a mysterious frozen land that is home to the Vedalken. They are said to run their experiments there. The nature of those experiments range from the horrifyingly horrific to the astoundingly strange, depending on who tells me the tale.
  • Coming back to my temporary port home and then west is the Yuan-Ti-Akda. The nation of snakes according to locals. The Yuan-Ti inspire fear and hatred in nearly all I speak to. They are described as untrustworthy, dangerous, amoral, and worse. Despite this, their homeland is supposedly beautiful if you ignore the slaves.
  • North of the Jungle lies the Ratun Monarchy, the current namesake of The Path since it is where the Path ends. It is apparently ruled by a mixture of Humans and Aasimar, and it's people come from the Jungle originally. It is supposedly a bastion of civilization, culture, and...hippo riders. I express much interest in visiting there.
  • Further north still lies Andahem. Most people I talk to express confusion with this place. Apparent home of the Ursine and Kalashtar and rather isolationist, the nature of the nation is unclear. Supposedly all Travelers from the nation say they are holding "the eternal vigil", whatever that may be.
  • Directly west of Ratun lies the Leonin Plains, home of... well the Leonin. They apparently wander this Savanah in clans or tribes, rarely interacting with the outside world.
  • Furthest west, and most intriguing, is the Peracau of Tiraxan. It is supposedly the oldest and grandest nation, and the most difficult to enter. It is home of, hear this, a Dragon nation. One filled with Dragonborn, Kobolds, and actual dragons (though they are never seen by outsiders). Outsiders can only access two dual fortresses along a massive defensive wall, with the massive inner landscape being reserved for only the chosen and those who live there.
This continent is rich with history and discovery Dragon Emperor. It is also a land wreathed in magic. Ancient waystones dot the landscape and seem to channel the natural Magics into the air, making spells and magical abilities much easier to call upon here than in Kalin or Efaanu. This also translates into the wild life. Many a monster dwell here I am told.   I believe from here I shall head north, into Ratun. There is ample chance of danger and adventure along that path, and I am eager to see it!   Faithfully yours,   -Sanctioned explorer Leopld Escariot Fant VI   Copy of attached map:
