Asetnomara Settlement in Nilam | World Anvil

Asetnomara

One of the two primary port cities in The Principality of Al-Tiba, Asetnomara is often the entry and exit point for most comers and goers in Al-Tiba who travel by boat. The city is a massive trading up with the rest of the world and when most people in Efaanu says "I've been to Al-Tiba" they mean they've been to Asetnomara.   The city's port serves hundreds of ships at once and is where most trade going in and out of the country goes (with hard to ship by boat goods going through Cervant and the Plusios Pass instead). The city is as a result one of the biggest melting pots in Efaanu, with people of all races, creeds, and religions coming through the port to either travel or trade.   The city, while not being the home of the Al-Tiban navy (that would be Escuda), is often hosting a large portion of the Al-Tiban navy at any one time. Thought to be one of the most sensitive cities in the country, any invader to Al-Tiba would need to take the city in order to get a beachhead into the country.

Government

Asetnomara is ruled by the Regatra of Asetnomara, overseen by the Amir/Amira of the Pé Dan Sur Amitra.

Defences

The city is not well defended in terms of physical protection. The port is open to the sea, with no walls anywhere except for the citadel of the city. This made up for with nearly a full third of the Al-Tiban navy being anchored off of the port at any one time to protect from naval attack, and a very well funded city guard and patrol protecting the city.

Industry & Trade

The city is rich from all the trade that enters the country through its ports, with all sea trade needing to either go to its port or going further down the coast to Escuda. Most opt for the shorter route, and the taxes and tariffs alone make the city rich.

History

The city was the original port city of the Atkorian's that supplied the region with needed supplies and transported people to and from the region by boat. It was the local base of the Carlegnian Navy during their occupation, but during the fabled Night of Cold Fire nearly the entire occupying Navy was burnt to a crisp and the city openly joined in the Al-Tiban rebellion.

Architecture

The city is a well known mixture of Atkorian, Carlegnian, Al-Tiban, and even Realmer and Lethennese architecture.

Geography

The region around the city is extremely comfortable and is often considered beautiful, being warmer than most other parts of Efaanu without being desertous or jungle-like.
