Al Tadhakar Organization in Nilam | World Anvil

Al Tadhakar

Al Tadhakar (Translated as "The Remembering") are the descendants of the "old Mernite" people.    When The Realm first conquered the Mernite Sovereignty, many of its people fled, integrated, or died. But some fled into the desert and chose to fight back. These desert dwellers became Al Tadhakar.    Al Tadhakar were a constant thorn in The Realm's side. They ambushed caravans, destroyed smaller military camps, and generally waged an unending guerilla war against the occupiers.    When the Crusaders came from Kalin and began their war against The Realm, Al Tadhakar helped them briefly. But when The Holy Mernite Sovereignty was declared, most of Al Tadhakar rejected the new dual-ruled government.   Since then, Al Tadhakar continues to wander the Desert of Ulb around the Sovereignty. For the most part, they attack what they consider outsiders, which is primarily forces of The Realm and Wurinzama. Though this can also include random caravans or groups that seem to be clearly Crusaders or Crusader-descended.    They are well feared for their hit and run attacks. This is aided by their near monopoly on firearms in Efaanu, seemingly created and maintained following the old Mernite ways, and their close connection to elemental magic and local wild life which allows them to scout and control their battlefields in confounding and dangerous ways.

Structure

Al Tadhakar seem to have a tribal structure, though they don't allow many visitors for long to study for any serious amount of time. There seem to be many tribes, but they also seem to work in concert. Specifics are frustratingly vague.

Assets

Al Tadhakar are known for their firearms, a rarity in Efaanu. They are also famed for their organic armor, the origin of which is unclear; as well as their various trained animals.
