Golden Grove, Fairygrounds Fairies introductions
Small Fey.
Of all fey creatures, fairies are some of the smallest, standing at 1 to 3 feet tall. They flutter along with leaflike wings which resembles that of the tree they were born from. Blue to green tinted skin hides below elaborate dresses. A stem of barky hair covers their round wee head and wraps around their elvish ears. The stem of hair droops backwards due to the weight of the flower at the end of it.
From Sapling to Seed.
Two trees sprouting in areas with concentrated natural energy may carry a fairy egg. As the trees grow so does the egg, the trunks intertwine in a helix pattern close to the ground and carry the egg nestled against each trunk until the egg has absorbed enough natural energy to then hatch. Over time the trees blend into one after the egg has hatched, but a round hollow remains.
Fairies' life cycles are closely related to that of the trees they were born from. The newborn fairy carries a seed on their head, which continues absorbing natural energy. As the fairy matures, the seed starts sprouting into the flower of the trees that cradled the egg. When polinated, the flower grows into a fruit which continues growing and absorbs natural energy until it becomes too heavy for the fairy's little head. Fairies then seek out a suitable spot to shed it's burden, planting seeds to start the cycle anew. Fairy fruit can grant druidic powers to anyone who consumes them; an unconsumed fruit burries itself into the ground and releases its pent up energy into the surroundings, giving life everything it needs to survive for years to come. Even in the deepest corners of the Underdark you may find thriving groves from the fruits of the most dairing fairies.
How they live.
Fairies live mostly in their own secluded societies along with dryads. Their towns can be found within the forests of the fairyground and in the golden grove. Each home is weaved from plants into structures. Trees from which they were born are never weaved, only tended to by them and dryads.
Fairies in multi-ethnic societies try vigorously to prove their mettle. They mostly go into hard labour that people of their stature normally wouldn't be able to do or act as meteorologists, using their innate druidcraft abilities to predict the weather.
