Ni no Kuni

A magical world with vast oceans and mountain-rich continents. Ruins dot the landscape from past civilizations. Long ago the world was united under the banner of the Wizard King. As the king died, with no rightful heir, the world's population split up as many smaller leaders emerge.   Nothing has come close to the Unity that the world saw under the rule of the Wizard King, though no mortal remains to tell the tale of how it actually was in the days of yore. Lest magically enchanted or written in stone, public documentation from the era has mostly withered away.   In modern times the world is prosperous in a relatively peaceful era. The different continents keep to themselves though trade happens from time to time.   In these peaceful times, conflicts and schemes still seem to be brewing in every corner of the world.
