Wild Hunt

Once upon a time...

A dark fae knight sought vengeance, promising to hunt souls with any who aided his quest. Cu Sith, Puka, and many beastial members of the Unseelie Court flocked to his side, though a surprising mix of Seelie and Unseelie Fae joined in smaller numbers.

Vengeance was swift. But the knight was trapped by his own promise, for those in the Wild Hunt had tasted blood and fear, and they wanted more. After hundreds of years, the knight found another who sought vengeance. The half-mortal agreed to lead the Hunt until his revenge was gotten.

Now, each one who leads the Hunt does so until they can find another whose lust for vengeance blinds them to the steep price that they must pay to rule the brutal pack.

The Huntsman

The one who leads the Wild Hunt is, by nature, a warrior. Bloodlust in mortals and half-mortals will attract the Wild Hunt, as the Hunter is usually seeking their replacement. Some believe that the Huntsman has been recruited in the past to do "dirty work" for Áine, the The Lady of the Winter Court. This may be the source of the Huntsman in the tales of Snow White.

Previous notable Huntsmen:

• Odin - The head of the Aesir made a specific deal to lead the Wild Hunt each year on the Winter Solstice. Under his firm guidance, the Hunt cleanses the mortal realm of lost and hostile spirits, though innocents can be caught up as well.


• Gwynn ap Nudd - A god of death in Wales, Gwynn ap Nudd brought a special breed of Cu Sith into the Hunt. These white dogs were marked with red ears and, while less intelligent that most Cu Sith, their dedication to chasing down the chosen prey cannot be matched.


• Herne the Hunter - A heroic figure in England, Herne was a consummate hunter until his death. His leadership of the Hunt continues into the modern day. Perhaps he is still satisfied with his role. Perhaps it would be safe to ask him to enact vengeance for you without being trapped in the deal. Perhaps...
