Nexus

Scope

The motivation behind building Nexus

I was planning a video game and wanted a reason for everything to be happening. I think this campaign will help to answer some of those questions and grant the experience I was looking for in the original game.

The goal of the project

I'm looking to create a campaign that we can all have fun with.

Nexus's Unique Selling point

I love a good multiverse story, but in this case the Multiverse has collappsed in on itself with horrible consequences. The idea here is
  • The universe has unlimited potential for good or for evil
  • It is impossible to create a space that has no problems; we need to accept that our world is flawed and that is okay.
  • But that shouldn't stop us from trying to make it better, we just need to be aware of our limitations

Theme

Genre

Multiverse is the theme, but we're divided into five separate categories:
  1. Steampunk Celestial
  2. Cyberpunk Hypertech
  3. Classic Medieval Fantasy
  4. On the Ruins of what could have been
  5. My Modern Life

Reader Experience

At any moment the feeling in the world should change. It should feel confusing and vast. It should feel chaotic and loud. But parts of it should feel like home too

Reader Tone

Somewhere in the middle. It's a bright facade over a looming shadow It's the dark side of hope and love; an ever suffocating scramble to perfection   Melancholy

Recurring Themes

The acknowledgement that things are outside of our control Hurt people hurt people Unresolved Trauma can cause us to hurt people, even when we do not mean to

Character Agency

Massive character agency in some ways, but minimal in others. Pan is the puppeteer holding the strings, but the players can break her plans if they're smart about it.   Meanwhile, Pan as a puppeteeris a big deal and shouldn't be underestimated

Drama

Steampunk Assassin

Even at night, the Vampires have reason to fear going out. Gunshots ring through the city, targeting obvious demons and unwitting vampires. Hidden high amongst the rooftops they say, is a hunter who will not rest until the city is free from such wicked things.

Runaway Devils

The Demon King has put out a bounty on those who have strayed from his organization. Among those are whispers of his own son.
