Tiamat, Queen of Evil Dragons

Tiamat's true form
Tiamat in her human guise, the Dark Lady
Tiamat is the chaotic evil goddess of wealth, greed, and vengeance. She is also the progenitor to the wicked chromatic dragons that plague countless realms across the multiverse. Though she holds many forms and titles across the realms, the Dragon Queen is her preferred title while her true form is a gargantuan five-headed dragon with each of her heads representing a different breed of chromatic dragon. She is a vain and spiteful creature, never forgiving even the smallest slight against her by any creature. Though more often guided by her legendary greed, it is not unheard of for the Dragon Queen to forsake treasure in order to extract revenge on a perceived enemy.   Table of Contents

History

Early Nexus History

2,500 years before the present day, Tiamat was contacted by Lady Kemlar and offered a deal. The mysterious woman desired the remains of deceased dragons and was willing to pay for them in treasure. Tiamat considered this offer but demanded more treasure than what Lady Kemlar insisted was fairly calculated. Unable to come to an accord, Lady Kemlar simply traveled to a Cult of Tiamat hideaway built around a chromatic dragon's grave to take its ancient bones without giving Tiamat so much as a single copper piece. Enraged at the insult, Tiamat summoned additional followers, including the cleric Mac Lendon, to slay Lady Kemlar for her arrogance.   Lady Kemlar turned out to be justifiably unconcerned by Tiamat's reactions and effortlessly slaughtered the cultists. Though Tiamat allowed most of the cultists to fall into the River Styx and become lemures for their failure, she had other plans for Mac Lendon's soul. In life, Mac had established a Cult of Tiamat cell on Nexus by converting an entire town into Tiamat worshipers. In reward for his efforts, she transformed him into an abishai so that he could continue to serve her as a member of her infernal armies.

War Comes to Tiamat

Lady Kemlar's slaughter of the cultists further enraged the Dragon Queen who began to send assassins against Lady Kemlar at semi-regular intervals, though none ever returned alive. Many years later, Lady Kemlar (grown tired of spending her precious time defending herself from Tiamat's ire) whispered into the ear of the high priest of Stronmaus, Marshall and convinced the cleric to gather an army of giants to wage war against Tiamat. Marshall did just that and Tiamat's attention is now largely occupied with managing her armies of dragons, abishai, and cultists defending her lair from Marshall's army.
