Threads of Fate

Threads of Fate are a metaphysical force controlled by the The Raven Queen, the Goddess of Death, Fate, and Winter. Every creature that exists is bound by invisible, intangible threads of fate that chronicle their past, present, and future. Only a rare few are capable of seeing these threads and fewer still are able to manipulate them. Still, those that possess such power can alter any individual's future or even change the details of their past.
Though The Raven Queen is the only deity who can freely manipulate Threads of Fate, any sufficiently powerful entity (such as another deity, archfey, or demon lord) can empower them to better protect a mortal of their choosing. While this extra power adds no direct protection to the Threads themselves, the mortal creature they belong to gains the ability to potentially survive would-be fatal injuries that would kill anyone else instantly. Those who have been empowered in such a way and become so deeply entangled in the Threads of Fate are generally referred to as the Entwined, though some call them Godtouched as deities are often the cause of this empowerment.
