The Grinning Widow

The Grinning Widow is a ship designed for the Black Loch, powered by rowing rather than sails due to the lack of wind. The ship was originally used by a group of duergar raiders who attempted to attack the kuo-toa city of Glogdolp. They vastly underestimated their opponents and the ship was boarded and seized by the kuo-toa, who killed the raiders and threw the bodies into the Loch. Since then, they have also "improved" the ship by painting it red, which the kuo-toa claim makes it go faster.
The Widow boasts a battering ram and and two ballista for defense from both pirates and the Loch's more aggressive wildlife. While the rear ballista is a standard model, the forward ballista is a heavy ballista (added by the kuo-toa to replace a standard model), which is twice as powerful as a standard model but requires two people working in tandem to fire.
At full compliment, the ship's crew includes:

• 1 Helmsman/Navigator
• 1 Cook

Journey Into the Underdark Arc

After the adventurers of the Thaig Expedition helped quell Nogah's bloodthirsty religious uprising in Glogdolp, Archpriest Strelmotarplgbliid rewarded the group by loaning them use of the Grinning Widow for as long as they remained on the Black Loch.
