Silver Falcons

While all high elves go through some form of weapons training and at least a brief bout of military service, the Silver Falcons are those dedicated to the military life. They are the special forces of the high elven military on Nexus' central continent, made up of those who started with raw natural talent that military training shaped into honed skill. The exact training each new recruit receives is based on where their natural talents lie. Some are naturally skilled with weapons, others with tools, and more still with various forms of magic.   An average Silver Falcon squad is made up of a half-dozen such individuals, led by a sergeant, whose overlapping strengths allow them to achieve virtually any military objective: a weaponmaster, sniper, scout, support caster, arcane caster, and divine caster. The sergeant is generally whomever is most competent among these individuals.   To their enemies, they are known as the Blood Falcons, for it is said they rarely walk away from a fight without their armor being stained in the blood of their adversaries.

Silver Falcon Squad Sixteen (SFSS)

Squad Sixteen is a newer squad within the Silver Falcons, led by a pair of veterans whipping several newer recruits into shape. For their first mission, they were (officially) sent into the Underdark to cull the drow population. Unofficially, they may have a different objective.

Journey Into the Underdark Arc

Trip to Brazenthrone

The adventurers of the Thaig Expedition first ran into Squad Sixteen on their way to Brazenthrone. The elves had taken a job escorting a wagon for Jenlin Keenpast in exchange for directions and other information about the local area. When K (disguised as a blind stonemason) and Elycia approached, Elycia was almost immediately recognized by Corporal Fenbren, who had gone to bard college with her. Fenbren was surprised to see someone she'd thought was dead but also seemed a little aggitated when Elycia tried to leave. She called over Sergeant Keebler who made his displeasure at seeing Elycia much more apparent.   The sergeant questioned where Elycia had gotten the Peregrine Spear she carried. She stated she found it at the bottom of the Black Loch, but gave no further details despite Keebler's pressing. Accusations flew between them and tempers flared, but before they could boil over the elves and adventurers found themselves attacked by a pack of wolf-like OoPAs. The elves displayed their skilled teamwork during the battle, each of them playing to their strengths and balancing the talents of their squadmates under Sergeant Keebler's command. But much to the Sergeant's ire, it was Elycia who both incapacitated a large number of the wolves and also struck the final blow against the pack's alpha.   As the alpha collapsed dead, the stillness that followed was suddenly broken by the sound of clapping. Santaura stood atop a nearby rock, applauding the mortals for their efforts in slaying the wolves. She disappeared not long after being noticed, vanishing in a cloud of inky black smoke and taking the surviving wolves with her. Sergeant Keebler asked who that was and Elycia commented it was the one who'd killed everyone on the elven warship that had brought Squad Sixteen across the Black Loch. A very angry Keebler demanded to know why Elycia had not shared that information previously. She had no answer.   As he was not in a position to put her in irons and drag her before a military court, Sergeant Keebler took it on his own authority to strip Elycia of her former rank. With it, he also took the bardic magic she had first acquired through military training through the use of a palm-sized crystal orb. This action seemed to be all the venting he needed, for now at least, and he departed with his squadron.

Ambush in the Shadowfell

Squad Sixteen's secret mission led them to the Shadowfell, where upon they were ambushed by some manner of corrupted dragon. The adventurers of the Thaig Expedition, who'd started to refer to themselves as the Delvers of Secrets, learned of this when they came across the Falcon's camp and an injured Hym stumbled back into it. Hym had been separated from the rest of his squad and didn't know if anyone else was still alive, but seemed to consider whatever mission he was on a failure.   Despite heading in the direction Hym indicated the dragon was in, the adventurers skirted around the area and avoided it. Squad Sixteen regrouped and managed to slay it, reconvening at their campsite when the Delvers reappeared there. Sergeant Keebler told Elycia (who approached alone while her friends hid nearby) to leave three times, which she refused. In response, he announced she was being formally arrested and had Hadler pull out a pair of manacles. When she tried to back away and flee, Keebler drew his spear. The rest of the Delvers took this as their cue to open fire and managed to kill Squad Sixteen with little difficulty. However, Sigma managed to get a sending spell off to the elven empire informing them of the situation before her demise and Hym managed to escape the conflict when it became clear the battle was lost, tearfully apologizing to her comrades as he fled.   After the bodies and camp was stripped of anything valuable, Elycia cremated the dead's remains to prevent the Shadowfell's magic from turning their cadavers undead.
