Maanzecorian is a dead god, formerly the mind flayer god of memory, thought, aptitude, and secret knowledge. His clergy was small, since most mind flayers do not participate in any form of worship, and this made him close with his followers. He would often attend sermons by appearing as a divine avatar, preferring to speak with his disciples directly rather than through omens. He was also known to negotiate conflicts between mind flayers and other peoples, provided he believed he could find a favorable situation for his own people.
Centuries ago, Maanzecorian was the first of several godly casualties caused by Orcus, Demon Lord of the Undead, during his brief ascent to godhood under the name Tenebrous. Orcus came to Maanzecorian demanding information that would lead him to his lost wand and was in no mood to negotiate. The ascended demon lord forcefully ripped the information from Maanzecorian's mind and use a powerful incantation known as the Last Word to destroy the mind flayer god entirely.
