Ioun, the Knowing Mistress, is the goddess of knowledge, prophecy, and skill. Her first and foremost belief is that shared knowledge fosters the upwards growth of civilization. Ioun's creed is that her followers spread the teachings of reason, perception, and truth to the masses so that they may better care for themselves and others. She keeps no temples and her followers can more often be found in libraries than anywhere else. While her worshippers will frequent any library, libraries specifically dedicated to Ioun are often built with enchantments meant to protect and preserve the knowledge they contain.
Ioun's overall demeanor is neutral, though she loathes liars and other individuals who keep secrets. This chiefly puts her into conflict with Vecna and his portfolio as the god of evil secrets. Servants of Vecna and other enemies of Ioun are often secret keepers and it is among her commandments to unveil them, for those who keep secrets are often rendered powerless without them.
