Dreyfus, the Ghost Historian
A longtime ally to adventurers who haunted their guildhall, Dreyfus assisted Lothal's Adventurer's Guild all the way back to its founding members. In life, he was a scholar who assisted the area's original adventurers with his knowledge of monsters and their weaknesses. He helped the guild's founders during their battle against Mesogog, though he himself did not survive the conflict. With his dying breath, he swore that his soul would not rest until the threat of Mesogog was ended for good.
While Dreyfus had a vast library that was in theory very useful, Dreyfus himself often seemed less so. Whenever the Headhunters asked Dreyfus for help, he was rarely able to produce results. What the group (and Dreyfus) himself never realized was that much of the information they sought had been pruned by Lady Kemlar and that Dreyfus himself was being subtly controlled by her. He became an unwitting puppet at the end of her strings, manipulated by both her information network and magic.
Despite these handicaps, Dreyfus did occasionally prove useful to the group by providing them with general information about local monsters and history. It was only that critical information that could potentially be harmful to Lady Kemlar that he was unable to provide. After Mesogog's death, Dreyfus' unfinished business was no more and his spirit finally faded into the afterlife after so many centuries.
