Berea Silverhoard

Berea Silverhoard is a duergar blacksmith originally from the city of Brazenthrone. She and her husband Kardik are considered two of the most skilled smiths in the city, though she sometimes complains the facilities she has to work with here aren't nearly as good as the ones back home. Her husband, a mountain dwarf, was not accepted in her homeland any more than she was accepted in his, and so they ended up at the Deep Spire. The back room of their shop is built around a natural volcanic vent and they use the heat of the magma over a traditional forge in their smithing.

Work in the Deep Spire

The adventurers of the Thaig Expedition first met Berea when they wandered into her forge. They did not receive a proper introduction as her husband spoke to the group in Common after seeing that most of them didn't speak Undercommon like Berea. She was still at work later when Elycia Mirais returned to purchase a few items from Kardik.
When the Architects of the Awakening attacked the Deep Spire with help from the Light Gundam, Berea was among the casualties. Two cannonballs fired by the Tempest of Reckoning hit her workshop, one destroying the forge and the other striking Berea. It struck her between her upper-right shoulder and chest, damaging her vital organs badly enough to kill her nearly instantly. Her death broke something in her husband Kardik, who screamed for the rest of the battle. Only when the chaos had died down did one of his neighbors find him and help him carry Berea's remains to the church of Moradin run by Ladia Ashpyre. The body was put into an unused apartment, along with many other civilians who'd been killed in the attack.
