The World Altar

Waytravel to the World Altar...

Thick creeping vines cover a sandstone platform in the shape of a wide disc surrounding this waystone. Steps lead down into a valley choked with vegetation, but here and there among the plants you are able to see the silhouette of a massive artificial structure sweeping away from you and up like an angular mountain. A tropical bird gives a musical trill overhead as you gaze in wonder at the ruins of The World Altar.   Tier IV Waypoint | The Iron Coin will not allow anyone through of 16th level or lower.

Blood Rock

This altar was part of old and forgotten ceremonial sacrifices. The area is covered by stones with a red tone, bones covered by dirt and mud and dry blood. Any creature standing in this area can score a critical hit on a 19 or 20.
Long-Term Effect: A creature must succeed on a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw at the end of each hour. On a failed save, the creature must use its action each round to attack the nearest creature it sees. At the end of each of its turns, the creature can make a new Wisdom saving throw. On a success, the effect ends until another hour passes.

Natural Resources

Creatures inhabiting The World Altar are likely drawn to spiritual wood and may be in the vicinity of stands of trees bearing the mystical material.

Spiritual Wood

This cyan-like wood has a natural connection with the magic.
Unit value: 250 gp
Armor: Replaces the metal used in the armor's construction. While wearing a medium or heavy armor (non hide) made with spiritual wood, you gain a +3 bonus on concentration checks to maintain a spell.
Weapon: Any ammunition made with spiritual wood is considered magical for the purposes of overcoming a creature's damage reduction. It's also used for crafting the wand of the warmage

The World Altar Special Encounters

The following encounters appear only intermittently. When they have been slain, Notify a DM as they do not return automatically. Nature's Fury, Living Stone, and Olanthius the Condemned return after a week, if Heirophant Supreme has not been slain. Heirophant Supreme never returns while any character which has previously slain him stands in his lair, nor will Nature's Fury, Living Stone, and Olanthius the Condemned return to face one who has defeated Heirophant Supreme. For all others, Heirophant Supreme returns one week after it has last been slain. Though you may need to fight some of these enemies multiple times in order to fulfill the prerequisites to summon another enemy, they only impart their rewards to a given character once.
