Bloodline: Fortis

Those of the Fortis bloodline value freedom and strength above all. They are rebels by nature, shunning authority, and living by a "might makes right" philosophy. There is not much nuance to a Fortis Vampire, they are brash, direct, and quick to turn to violence.

The vampire community strives to keep control of the Fotis as much as they can, not wanting to risk being discovered, but most Fortis don't have any fear of discovery. Fortunately, the leaders of the Fortis understand the danger that is always present and keeps the others in line. The nature of the Fortis however means that the leadership can change at any moment and pose a risk to all the vampires in the area. The Fortis respect power though, and as long as the other bloodline stand united in dealing with them, they usually toe the line though they are not shy about seeing how much they can get away with.

Fortis Vampires do not like being told what to do and cherish their freedom which puts them at odd with much of the vampire community. Other Bloodlines spend a lot of time learning self-control, while Fotis tend to let it loose. They like to indulge whatever vices they have and understand there is little that most people can do to stop them. They disdain mortal authority figures like police, knowing that they have little power over a vampire. They see themselves at the top of the food chain, and they are usually only cowed by those stronger than they are. They are especially disdainful of other vampire who use powers that are more mental then physical. The see them as weak, even if they fear the ability being used on them.
Fortis Vampires enjoy the physical aspect of being a vampire probably more than any of the other bloodlines. They enjoy violence and fighting and physical contests. They had a harder time keeping control than any other of the bloodlines which can lead to some difficult situations. The bloodline also facilitates this. Fortis vampires are faster and stronger than most other of their age. They are hardier as well, healing faster and being able to resist a lot. This makes them the perfect physical warrior, something they are very proud of.

Progeny

Fortis vampire have no real preference on who they transform, and they don't seek out agreement from anyone before giving them the gift. Then will transform a mortal just to see if they manage to survive. They usually take them, drain them, give them their blood and then leave. Sometimes they will stay and watch to see how the new Forti gets along and even make bets with other Fortis if the fledgling will last that day. Sometimes several Fortis will all transform mortals and coerce them to fight each other, promising the winner that they will be changed back. This carelessness is a long contention point with the larger vampire community, and it is not uncommon for non-Fortis to punish a Fortis Bloodline vampire for endangering the community.
Giving the gift to someone just for the sake of it is entertainment for the Fortis, and as you would expect very few survive. From time to time a Fortis will actually find someone a mortal that they have a lot of respect for though and transform them with the intent of bringing them into the fold. When this happens the mortal is usually one who has proven himself in some way, perhaps surviving an attack by vampire or standing up to someone who was obviously more powerful. It is ironic then that the first thing a Fortis does with his fledgling is to make sure the new vampire knows his place, and this is usually done violently.

Preferred Prey

Fortis love the taste of fear in the blood they feed off. They don't really have much of a preference of who they choose beforehand, but once they have chosen someone, they like to do everything in their power to terrify their prey before feeding. This usually means reveling themselves and chasing their prey, playing and tormenting them before finally feeding one.
Fortis is really the only bloodline that like to hunt for prey in groups, sometimes choosing a group as potential prey, and ensuring they each feeding it witness, heightening the fear of those who last the longest. The Fortis rarely leaves prey alive.

Structure

Fortis Vampire's hierarchy is built on fear. The strongest Fortis rule over the others by intimidation and fear of violence. They punish disobedience harshly and are not above draining and killing those who do not fall in line. Any Fortis can challenge for leadership simply by defeating the current leader. In this battle there is no honor, and the vampires are expected to win any way they can.

Many of its members are regular humans, but the gang's inner circle is entirely made up of Fortis Vampires.
