Frisian Toxification

Utility

When a Frisian has fallen ill to fungal infection they are isolated in a bare room where they are fed on a simple diet washed down with flasks of the toxification liquid.  The victim must be monitored closely, changing the amount of liquid as they progress so as not to cause permanent damage or kill the patient.

Manufacturing

Special flasks are made, marked by shamans with protective wards to keep bad spirits away. In truth these marking serve to warn against casual consumption.  These flasks are made out of clay, usually the export of the local Sippe.  Once the flasks are made and filled the concoction can be stored indefinitely, so shamans limit their production to keep value up.
Access & Availability
Although Frisia has a much higher heavy metal content than other planets, production of toxification treatments are limited to those areas where the presence of heavy metals is high enough to kill off fungi in the body without killing the host outright. These sites are usually Sippe secrets with guards posted at all times.
Discovery
Shortly after arriving on Frisia the colonists discovered a wide variety of fungal species that humans were susceptible to. Green Vein was the most famous but Frisians had to be religious in cleansing their clothes and living spaces or they would fall prey to many others. It was believed at first at first that there was no cure to these illnesses but word spread that one isolated Sippe had victims recover when others would normally die. Their health was attributed to local springs that poured out of the mountain that they used to drink and bathe. Upon testing it was discovered that these springs contained small amounts of dangerous heavy metals such as lead, mercury, arsenic and cadmium.  Since then Frisian Shamans have been entrusted with the secrets of balancing out the metals in water to cure these illnesses.
