Elasarius
God of Magic, Logic, Reason, Communication, and Patron of Wizards
"Please don't insult my intelligence."
The Arcane Arts
Master of the Arcane Arts and Archmagus of the Seventy-Thousand Planes, Elasarius is the God of Magic, Knowledge, Logic, Mathematics, and Language. Wizards, scholars, librarians, scribes, mathematicians, linguists, antiquarians, and those who collect and archive knowledge chiefly revered them. Many universities, academies, and mages' guilds that dot the great cities of Sol consider the Lord of Mages as their patron. Sages and wizards regard Elasarius as the source of all arcane power. While some magic may be derived from the natural world or mortal faith, the arcane arts are the purview of Elasarius. They are the origin of many schools of magic, from restoration to enchantment to transmutation. While they are of a good aligned natured like the rest of their celestial peers, they are less fiercely concerned with morality as a central tenet and even less concerned with purging the world of evil through violence. Elasarius' preference is goodness through reason and logic. Through sound reasoning and the sharing of knowledge with people of all classes, the world will start moving in the right direction. According to Elasarius, denying knowledge to the masses or hoarding secrets for their own sake are wastes of intellect. The Seventy Thousand Planes
The realm of Elasarius is known as the Seventy Thousand Planes. Rather than lording over a single realm like most gods, Elasarius' realm contains tens of thousands of pocket dimensions, each dedicated to a field of research that interests Elasarius. There is a realm for almost every avenue of inquiry here, from the alchemical effects of subterranean fungi to the potential of combining spells from different magical traditions. This is not to say Elasarius is mad in their thirst for knowledge. Rather, they follow a code of ethics that involves willing participants and not causing harm unnecessarily in their experiments. This has been passed down to mages and other practitioners of the arcane arts as the ethical use of magecraft, prevalent throughout magical institutions around the continent of Sol. Mages who bypass these guidelines, such as dark mages and most necromancers, are considered outside the realm of Elasarius' support. For mortals who find themselves in the Seventy Thousand Planes, Elasarius welcomes any and all to explore the pocket dimensions and learn from the inquiries of the Lord of Magic freely, so long as they are responsible and well-intentioned.The Lost Vassal of Elasarius
Many legends tell of an instance when Elasarius sought to cross their essence with that of a dragon to see what would emerge. The nature of this encounter has been long debated, whether something mystical or more... literal. Nevertheless, the result was said to be the divine we now know as Celexei, Lord of Black Magic and Summoning. His draconic heritage prevented Celexei from being loyal to Elasarius, thus causing him to eventually split from the Lord of Magic and strike out on his own as a demigod in his own right. In one of the Seventy-Thousand Planes of Elasarius, Celexei created his Clockwork City to work on his spells and rebel against his creator. Since then, Elasarius and Celexei have been at odds, offering competing philosophies about magic. To Elasarius, magic is a means by which to help others and seek freedom through knowledge. To Celexei, magic and knowledge are all means to the only end that matters — power.Divine Domains
