Four Copper Square
Four Copper Square is the primary commercial zone of the West Shanks district and the largest market place in
Tel Hannon . It was the first market to grow in the settlement and as such is the unofficial heart of the city. Its proximity to the cities port infrastructure makes it the first stop for new arrivals. It's name is a reference to the myriad of shabby stalls selling cheap inferior merchandise.
Four Copper Square is a large trapezoid of open ground approximately 100 meters across. It is ringed by a number of taverns, warehouses, residences and religious structures. It is generally filled with a hundred or so souls selling various wares from brightly coloured albeit shabby stalls. It is almost always filled it the sounds of musicians belting out popular ballad with an empty hat in front of them, haggling and arguing and the never ending cry of vendors. It almost always reeks of mysterious meats being grilled over tiny stoves and of tightly packed bodies boiling in the humid air.
The square sells just about everything but almost everything is of inferior quality or dubious origin. It is rich with poverty and desperation and routinely stalked by pickpockets and urchins. It is at once enthralling and grotesque.
Four Copper Square is within the territory of the Legarto who make a tidy sum from both a protection racket and the sale of illicit goods and service. The Tel Hannon Milita occasionally walk through but do so quickly while trying not to see anything. Every one knows who the true authority is within Four Copper Square.
