Circle of Shards

  The natural landscapes of the world have changed in the years since the fall of the gods, altering some spirits and introducing completely new ones. Druids of the Circle of Shards devote themselves to the celestial crystals and their shards, communing with and living among the spirits held within the different crystals. Such druids spend their lives seeking out the purest of shards in an attempt to keep them out of the hands of those that would exploit the crystalline spirits.   

Aetheric Form

Starting at level 2, the crystalline spirits have taught you the secrets of the aether storms. As an action, you can expend a use of your Wild Shape feature to take on features of the aetheric storms themselves rather than transforming into a beast. At this level, you take on the qualities of an aetheric cloud, replacing your Constitution, Strength, and Dexterity stats with those of the elemental's. In addition, you gain access to the attacks granted through natural weaponry while in this form.  

Aetherically Charged

Beginning at level 6, you are able to recharge yourself and your allies using the aetheric energies channeled through the crystalline energies. At the end of a short rest, you may replenish a number of spell slots per party member equal to half of your druid level, rounded down. None of the replenished spots can be 6th level or higher, and this ability can't be used again until after a long rest.  

Greater Aetheric Form

Starting at level 10, your aetheric form becomes stronger. Now, instead of transforming into an aether cloud with an expenditure of Wild Shape, you transform into an aether storm, the greater aether elemental.  

Crystalline Shield

Beginning at level 14, the crystalline spirits that protect and guide you are now willing to do so when you are at your most vulnerable. When you are reduced to 0 hit points, or are incapacitated against your will, you immediately gain the benefits of conjure elemental as if it were cast using a 9th-level slot. Three aether clouds are summoned, appearing within 20 feet of you. If they receive no commands from you, they protect you from harm and attack your foes. This spell lasts for 1 hour, or until it is dismissed, free of action.  

Circle Spells

Your connection to the crystal shards and the forces that created them allows you to cast certain spells you might not otherwise be able to. At levels 3, 5, 7, and 9, you gain access to circle spells that reflect the properties of the aetheric storms - thunder, lightning, force, and unstable magic. Once you gain access to a circle spell, you always have it prepared, and it doesn't count against the number of spells you can prepare each day. These spells count as druid spells for you, regardless of whether they appear on the druid spell list or not.
  • Level 3: arcanist's magic aura, magic weapon
  • Level 5: call lightning, dispel magic
  • Level 7: freedom of movement, polymorph
  • Level 9: awaken, conjure elemental
