The Devran Consortium

An aristocratic, primarily human nation that believes in progressing humanity through whatever means necessary. Dorter, the City of Progress is its capital, and it is a sprawling metropolis of technological marvels and is also one of the main airship hubs for the western kingdom. The Consortium values science and logic over things like morality, and such views have put them at odds with Myrinthal. However, these values have served them well, as they are the strongest military force in Nerevia thanks to their rapid growth and recent technological advancements. The Consortium is a veritable melting pot of races. Some are attracted by commerce, others in the pursuit of knowledge, and still others flock to the many adventuring guilds around the realm for their shot at glory. There’s a function for every skillset somewhere in the Consortium, even if that function turns out to be ‘test subject’.

The Consortium's week of celebrations surrounding the unveiling of their latest piece of steam-tech, an enhanced way to generate power from elemental cores for consumer use, was rudely interrupted by the star shower. One of the shards crashed down into the city proper, and the Consortium military has been out in force on the streets, decked out in their heavy suits of core-powered armor and codices to control the situation. There has been an increase in political tensions regarding who the shard belongs to, as one of the higher ranking scientists of the Consortium also holds a spot in the Council of Grand Magi - Ardynn Schwarz, the evoker and explosion specialist. The council is putting pressure on them to surrender the shard to Myrinthal to be dealt with. As a result, the Consortium is rushing to take care of other shards in the area before Myrinthal can make any kind of claim to them.

Although the Consortium is technologically advanced, they still face their share of problems.  Rioting within the alienage and an upsurge of pickpocketing activity have kept the Consortium military stretched thin.
