Mental characteristics

Personal history

Dyal was born in the nation of Ioclen on the continent Eashinth, to a moderately wealthy merchant family. While his father expected him to be a merchant as well, Dyal longed for the glory of battle. As soon as he was old enough, he stowed away on a ship, landing in a neighboring kingdom. He joined a group of mercenaries, and fought with them for several years. One day, they were ambushed by rivals, and nearly all wiped out. Dyal survived, but was severely injured. Angry at both the attackers and himself, he retreated into the wilderness to train for 3 years. When he returned, he challenged the leader of the rival mercenaries that had killed his comrades, defeated him, and took over leadership of the group.

Dyal's skill became legendary. When he grew older, he passed on leadership of the mercenaries and established a school of swordsmanship away from the rest of civilization. He accepted few students, but even so, the techniques he taught them spread as they left and taught their own pupils. He died of natural causes.

Morality & Philosophy

Dyal paid little attention to matters of good and evil. He cared only for the thrill of battle and the art of combat. He would teach any pupil that he believed could honor his techniques, regardless of their history or attitude.

Wealth & Financial state

As the leader of a successful band of mercenaries, Dyal charged high prices for his services, and was very wealthy. Despite this, he largely stayed out of politics and high society, and spent most of his time with his warriors.
