Mars

Welcome to Mars. Please make sure to bring your own oxygen. We are currently running low on our public supply.
— Spaceshuttle announcement

In a world where everyone is against eachother in global wars and megacorperations tries to control the market, there is only one place in existence where such corperate greed seems to be free: Space.

As such, a lot of people put together their well-erned cash before the economic crash to put into rocket research, leading to the first manned missions towards Mars. Granted, they were sadly 1-way trips, but their sacrifises were helpful to begin constructing the first foundations of what became Mars Base 1.

After 214 deaths and 24 crippled candidates helping out with establishing the main floor, those who could afford a trip moved away from Earth to colonise Mars. Which were of course the British first. Then came the Americans. And then came everyone else. But mostly the rich before everyone else. And some stowaways that somehow survived the trip to Mars in the storage units.

The big problem, however, was that Mars had no oxygen, leading to many people having to reserve their own personal oxygen plants to survive. From the original 1.000 visitors (plus some stowaways), only 147 survived, who immediately fight for dominance and created a class system.

As for now, the planet has become a place run by the rich and where oxygen has become its main currency. Completely disconnected from the rule of Megacorps, the place is instead run by Prince of Fresh Air, being in control of most of the air supply to avoid an economic crash.

Trade with Earth

Despite their disassociation with Earth and the ruling of Neo Megacorps, the lack of supplies does force them to establish trade routes and buy the branded merchandise and products of Megacorps to survive. In return, they bring rockets of fresh air to the polluted lands of Neo Utopiapolis, which are sold at a 1500% profit rate.

However, since rocket travel between earth and mars can take up to 7 months, most products become bad over time, with the fresh air becoming stale at the same time. Neither can complain though, since it's better than either starving or suffocating.
