O'Neill Cylinders

Much of humanity live in space and most of those live in Cylinder colonies they vary in their dimensions with the smallest are in the range of 500 meters in diameter they tend to be not longer than three kilometres, the largest are over thirty kilometres in diameter and can be up to a hundred kilometres in length. For the time being most of these settlements orbit the Earth and number can be found buried in asteroids in the belts as well as a few scattered among the other planets in the solar system that tend to exist for research and experimentation reasons. The plans of the Interplanetary agencies is to move to building more and more of these habitats closer to the Sun and free up the space around the Earth and further reduce the population there.
