The Orangery
A kaiseki restaurant on the grounds of the Taiyo ni kisushita {sun kissed} citrus plantation. The grounds also contain a cluster of tea rooms, the Chanoyu {the way of tea}, the meditative structures constructed on raised wooden platforms which creates the illusion that they are serenely floating above the surrounding stones. Modern functional additions include sliding glass walls and roofs as well as an interior table on hydraulic supports that may be raised or lowered as needed. Each tea room is designed to encourage guests to observe and appreciate the ever-changing natural landscape whilst drinking in the day/night sky. The Kessho Kuriku Taki {crystal creek falls} (a 213 meter high waterfall that cascades over huge boulders and rocks in the Kessho Kuriku leftover from an ancient rockfall from Sapphira-san {lapis lazuli mountain}), requires a friendly one kilometer hike from the Orangery and the natural pool below offers a shallow swimming and wading spot ideal for all ages and the surrounding areas provide plenty of shade trees and beautiful views of the river and mountains.
