Hilo Welcome Center

The Hilo Welcome Center is located in the Civic Center ward. The complex's purpose is to be a central location where foreign diplomats and traders may schedule and hold meetings with local and foreign political, guild, and business representatives. The building complex (similar to a trade fair conference hall and events venue with more than four hundred thousand meters of hall areas and more than seventy thousand square meters of free space at its disposal), is located near a few markets, a number of government buildings, some consulates, several exclusive hotels, and the Civic Center Station. The Interstellar Congress Hall, the Hilo Welcome Center's most prominent building, is a prodigous multipurpose formal and stately conference center that can accommodate more than twenty thousand participants, it has an auditorium that holds up to five thousand and a four thousand person capacity council hall with interpretation and audio equipment for up to twelve languages; where trade delegates and diplomats attend functions and meetings, it is accessible to the city's subway and commuter rail system and has shuttle services to the city aeroports. The entire complex, of several buildings and facilities, is of ultramodern and sustainable design and completely self-sustaining with renewable solar and thermal energy sources. The Hilo Welcome Center, especially the Festhalle (the splendid neo baroque style arena has a rectangular layout superimposed by a cupola crowned rotunda over a symetrical quatrefoil shaped topped by a dome and lantern roof seventy meters in diameter and forty meters high constructed of glass and steel that has a variable grandstand system that seats up to eighty five thousand and a flexible multifunction field), also plays host to many notable trade shows, conferences, sporting events, business summits, exhibitions, concerts, theater, festivals, cultural events, and tournaments.
