Genasi

Genasi refers to the exceptionally rare people who, like the Sivulian, have blood that is tainted by extra-planar ancestry. Also like their infused brethren, they tend to be of Human origin along with their foreign influence. However, whereas Sivulians come from forbears of the Astral Realms, the Genasi's ancestors are from the Shattered Planes of pure elemental powers, sometimes called the Elemental Planes.

Genasi appearances vary wildly from person to person, with some being nearly indistinguishable from their natural kin while others appear almost like elemental beings themselves. These elemental traits usually manifest as skin, eye, and hair colour distortion, or even auras of their element, especially of fire. Genasi of the same lineage can even look dramatically different, as elemental traits could go unnoticed for generations before appearing again. One stereotype that rings true for the Genasi are their personalities, often mirroring the natures of their elemental heritage. For example Fire Genasi tend to be short tempered and quick to action while Earth Genasi might take a slow, measured approach to life and be relatively unshaken by calamity.

Because of their rarity and other-worldly appearance, Genasi are often be disowned by their families and communities, being seen as curses upon the bloodline rather than true members of the family. Many Genasi, for this reason, are lonesome wanderers, or make found-families in close friends who can accept them as they are. Rarer than a Genasi finding true community are multiple Genasi, especially of the same elemental type, forming a community together. Most Genasi can go their whole lives without meeting another of their kind. When two Genasi have the great blessing to meet, they are fast friends and form a nearly unshakeable bond, even when their elements are at odds.

Genasi can be found across the Empire fulfilling sundry roles from sailors to soldiers, administrators to merchants. Their unique personalities and abilities lend themselves well to the imperial mission, be it the methodical care of an Earth Genasi as a magistrate, or the bold whimsy of an Air Genasi as an explorer.
