Sivulian - Tiefling and Aasimar (seh-VOOL-lee-an)

Sivulians are a race of humanoids, typically humans, whose blood is is tainted by the sinister or divine. Every Sivulian can trace their ancestry back to the union of a mortal humanoid and a fiend or deity of one of the Astral Realms (see Polasenok - The Universal Order) who had taken on a weaker physical form. Due to this ancestry, Sivulians are known for their otherworldly personalities, although these stereotypes is often exaggerated.

There are two types of Sivulian: Tieflings and Aasimar. Tiefling heritage comes from Realms with evil alignments. Tieflings appeared quite similar to their native species, but retained some physical manifestations of their fiendish heritage: typically unnaturally coloured skin and eyes, sharp teeth, horns or antlers, and tails. These vestigial structures reflect their ancestral particular sinister heritage.

Tieflings do not necessarily have a homeland in the same way other creatures do; the land wherein their founding ancestor settled. Instead they tend to live in small communities in the cities and towns of their mortal kinfolk, keeping with the cultures of their mortal lineage. However, they often face great prejudice due to their evil appearance, and are often segregated into ghettos and districts. In fact, the tieflings of Argellor were banished to the nearby Hobyg Mountain, wherein the only semblance of a tiefling homeland can be found. Constant hostility from their communities means many tieflings prefer to roam the Empire, finding a home on the road and sea.

On the other hand, the Aasimar are those whose bloodlines can be traced back to a celestial or other divine being of the Astral Realms with a good alignment. Similarly to Tieflings, their appearance varies depending on the particular ancestor from which they hail, adopting hair and skin colours, eye types, hair textures, and even wings and tails of their divine forebear. At the same time, they still retain the characteristics of their material blood, again typically human.

Although the Aasimar are feared by their communities as being alien, it is not to the same extent, or indeed the same kind of fear, as their Tiefling kin. Instead, Aasimar are often revered, and sometimes worshipped for their presence as a manifestation of the divine. They are quickly trusted in the Empire, and have no trouble finding positions of power, especially in the Aethanist Church. Despite all this, of course, not all Aasimar are inherently good, just as not all Tieflings are evil. Like the Tieflings, they have no homeland. However, they tend not to be banished or segregated, instead being very welcomed in their material native communities.

Interestingly, it is said that the Sivulians can maintain a relationship with the being that gave them their supernatural blood in the same way that a child might maintain some relationship with their estranged parent. However, the nature of these relationships varies. Some Astral Beings have little care for their progeny and will allow them to live their lives as they please. Others might be nothing more than an influence in the Sivulian's life, offering guidance or aid, but allowing for self-realization. Still others, and herein lies the bias for Aasimar and hatred for Tieflings, take on a teeply involved role in their descendant's lives, almost to the same extent as a warlock and their patron. These overbearing Astral Beings see their children as pawns to manoeuver in the Great Duality, and will punish disobedience, both divine and demonic.

Hobyg Tieflings

The Hobyg Tieflings are those who had been banished from their homes in Argellor nearly a century ago. They reside on and around the Hobyg Mountain, neighbouring their old Argellor homeland and the Putontu Woods. Hobyg is the only known ethnically homogenous tiefling territory.

The Hobyg are a proud and energetic people, turning the trauma of their exile into a desire to use their freedom
