Odroil Species in Necumia | World Anvil

Odroil

Odroil’s are similar to sunflower that are very endangered. There are only hundreds left in the wild. Any uses are confined to special circumstances.   Not much is known about this flower as it was discovered only 30 years ago.

Basic Information

Anatomy

It looks like a sunflower. Odroil’s have eyes on the top to scare away predators that might want to eat, or cut it.

Genetics and Reproduction

Odroil’s reproduce by its leaves falling off which leaves a special pollen that gets moved by the wind and grows into a new flower.

Growth Rate & Stages

The plant grows every year but the major changes happen every 5. When it reaches its 5th year of life it starts to earn its pedals. At the 10th year it starts to look like a sunflower. Then on its 15th year it reaches its final form.

Ecology and Habitats

Odroil’s like to grow on mountains but they can adapt to their surroundings. The one thing they can’t adapt to is places that reach a temperature of 100 degrees or more. They are more commonly grown in places that are close to water.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Its uses water from its roots to keep it alive. The sunlight also has a factor in keeping it alive but isn’t as important.

Biological Cycle

The flower closes its pedals around the middle during winter time to protect itself from harsh, cold winds and frostbite. When it starts to get warm the pedals reopen and the color changes from a teal, orange palette to a red, yellow palette.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

It sprays a white ink to blind predators that want to hurt it. The use is unknown as there is no record of it.
