The Irziell's have been trying to defend their land from the Qieq'ars for millions of years and they just want the war to end so they can live their lives without worrying about attacks and dying. They have built powerful technology to help them come back from the injuries they have sustained from the Qieq'ars.
The Qieq'ars have been forced to move to a harsh biome to live in after the Irziell's forced them out of their homeland. They want revenge to finish what their ancestor's have started. They have much more powerful weapons than the Irziell's do which can make them harder to kill
