Vivi Funus
Just a slowly rotting corpse or two still wandering around doing stuff
Literally translated as living corpse, the vivi funus are those who have died and come back for one reason or another. They have existed for as long as anyone can remember but no one knows why they return from death in particular. The theory in general by the mageborn is that there is some force in the world that chooses to bring them back into existence or merely that they are a variant of ghost: with enough emotion to leave an imprint on the world after their death but also will enough to keep control of their body.
Main Traits
- Retain the stench of a corpse, the effects of which can be combated with herbs or vigorous consumption of alcohol.
- Must consume meat every three to five days to retain coherency, otherwise they become a stereotypical zombie of ancient Earth media and aimlessly wander with a hunger for flesh.
- Have a death-wound that persists after their death, usually the only physical evidence of how they died.
- Cannot be killed but they can be dismembered, although their limbs will eventually find their way back together through unexplained means.
Access to Power
The vivi funus also have access to some fragment of Power as they are a part of the Other that exist in the universe. One aspect of Power that many of them can have access to is controlling bones, especially for those that are missing limbs upon their revival, giving them the capability of taking over bones and reforming them into limbs they can make use of. There are other aspects that they can have but it varies from vivi funus to vivi funus on what Power they may happen to have.Lifespan
While it may seem that they could go on forever, eventually the bodies of the vivi funus do start to break down. The flesh around their death-wounds slowly begin to degrade, requiring more and more bones to replace if they happen to be limbs that require such. They also become gaunter over time and their skin in places begins to thin until it exposes dried flesh and bone underneath until, eventually, the vivi funus become a literal walking corpse. Unfortunately, they are incapable of dying again and instead simply persist in this state until their bodies finally falling apart.
