Parin (tha-rin)

Skipping across the sand dune on a Qanoqul (qaa-no-qul), or a Sand skipper. Comprised of two sleds connected by a central platform, this was what made the desert invasion possible. This was built solely by the reeds of the Parin, as the sand was too hot and corse for wood to be of any use. As the Kasilino, hid among the sands these qanoqul, sped towards their final destination.   The sands begin to stir, the buds release the build up heat and stored magic as their 'bulbs' slowly begin to rise above the flower. A group of adventures feel the release of heat and light and begin to dig, trying to avoid the dangers of a Katia.   A chemist his away in her lab, slowly and carefully grinding the flower up into a powder, feeling the release of stored magic and fire in every small movement. She hopes one day she can harness this power for herself and bring an end to this solitude.   For this plant has many uses, and many yet to be discovered as it is quite unstable. There are legends of people harnessing the flower for themselves and laying waste to cities and people alike, for this holds massive power but very few have ever come close, if any, to truly harnessing the magic this flower holds.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

It has rather strange marking across the buds and the leaves, most are unable to understand what it means or even what can be done with it. Regardless this plant grows from a reed-like structure that can reach upwards of 26ft tall, and it tinted with a reddish-orange color.

Genetics and Reproduction

During a Katia, it takes the 'bulb' that floats above the bud and as the Katia rolls over Parin the 'bulb' gets taken by the winds and flung somewhere across the Kasi (ka-si) Kilo (ki-low).

Growth Rate & Stages

It would usually grow when the heat is at its extreme as it would absorb a bit of the heat to slowly stat to grow. Now due to the process it undergoes this plant takes seasons to grow fully. You can go 4 to 6 season before you see the first bud appear on the plant.

Biological Cycle

Unknown as they usually get cut down after a while.

Additional Information

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Can be used as an early warning against a Katia, but if ever truly harnessed it has some truly destructive powers. Sense the root structure can be extremely dense it can clump sand together and slowly turn the sediment into a rock.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Lives within the Kasi Kilo, or the desert.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

It has the ability to sense a Katia before it starts.
We unveil this plant that has live with us for quite some time, as it has guided us through the desert we though to be impassable. Let us now give thanks to this plant as it can be renewed as our desert transport. -Festival 3, unveiling of new technology. Speaker unknown.

It would be interesting to have a pop-up to explain more of what a Katia is. But this seems useful and I'm intrigued with what the chemist is doing.
