"Die graufen sind nicht zurückgekehrt. Ich frage mich, wo sie gewesen sind."

Plans For the Future

The senior crew prepares to head on another expedition, this time to the isle of Wyntyr, where they wish to investigate a mysterious glowing. Pixchaxla approaches the party, asking about their plans for the future. He lacks the capacity to bring the Obsidian Chest to Francisco himself, so he needs to rely on the Crew of The Driftwood. The senior crew considers their options, and eventually settles on, after spending a bit more time in Yuel's Graveyard, heading to the Isle of Many Covens to grab the ship that Camilia had talked about. Following that, they consider heading north to Port Evergreen to grab supplies, then continuing north in the eventual pursuit of heading to The Kings' Sea. Pix is grateful that the group intends to do "what's right".
There is some discussion surrounding why Francisco did not cease The Great Sailing and return to Port Rose to defend it. Pix explains it would be difficult to do so and Francisco likely wants to get the most he can out of the sailing if he believes he can't do anything about the port. Gunther finds this suspect but doesn't mention it in front of Pix. Pix is also asked why Francisco didn't go through where The Wild Sea meets the Kings' Sea, which would have been a shorter journey. The halfling explains that this region is particularly dangerous, partly for unknown reasons and partly because it is the hunting ground of Large Freddy.

Wyntyr

The crew takes a day of rest, and those who climbed Boreal Peak get some much-needed rest. The next day, the senior crew sets off towards the isle. Gunther is particularly excited and takes the front, followed closely by Ramone. Grov & Laire take up the back, with the elf using magic to regularly warm the cold-prone dragonborn.
The isle has a rocky shoreline and mostly consists of snowy bluffs with intermittent patches of ice. The north has a forest and the west has a small ice field. A swirling windstorm encircles the centre of the isle, from which a dim blue glow emits if you look carefully enough. There is evidence of large predators, and as the group treks toward the storm, they hear and eventually see a pack of wolves, led by a particularly ferocious-looking white wolf. However, with good technique, Gunther is able to guide the group toward the storm, which the wolves peel away from before they manage to catch up to their prey.
The storm grows more intense as the group goes further into it. Ramone spots the booted footprints of a giant and points them out, bringing concern to the party. Grov fails to notice a group of small ice creatures (mephits) tailing the party. Closer to the centre of the storm, the group finds heavily decayed ruins which are buried beneath much snow and appear to have been here long before Yuel ever touched this span of sea.
Two large winged creatures can be heard in the distance, and they appear to be growing closer. Grov hides under a blanket and tries to hide. The remainder of the group prepares for battle. Two griffins descend, with one divebombing towards Locke and the other trying to snatch what it thinks is an inert pile of meat, but is in fact Grov. The divebombing griffin is fired upon by nearly everybody within the party and crashes to the ground before it has a chance to attack. The other manages to do a good amount of damage to Grov before it too is killed. The mephits prove annoying, and two of them nearly manage to knock Grov down after his encounter with the gryphon. However, the group manages to clean up the annoyances, and Gunther shoots the last mephit as it tries to flee.
The party makes their way through the final stretch of the storm, coming upon a clear patch within the centre of the isle. Within the eye of the storm lies a still mostly-intact keep. Atop this keep is a protrusion of ice-like crystal encasing some kind of small shape, possibly an object.

The Frost Giant & The Keep

Laire uses his magic to go invisible and climbs the outer walls of the keep. He finds a frost giant sitting in the courtyard and musing to himself in his native tongue. Sure to avoid the giant, the bard gets a good picture of the area and returns to the party. The group formulates a plan while they rest.
Over the next hour, the group is sure to be quiet, so as not to alert the giant. Grov thinks the giant may be friendly, though his companions are quick to tell him it's preferable not to have to find out. Locke proposes getting the drop on the giant and trying to kill it or at least knock it out before it has a chance to cause harm to the party. However, not everybody thinks this is a good idea, especially considering that a giant may be a formidable foe even after an ambush. Gunther also considers that the giant is sitting outside of the main keep. It may have friends.
The giant eventually grows slightly more agitated and begins to pace around the courtyard, speaking to himself every once in a while. Clearly, it thinks something is afoot but is not yet alarmed or too concerned. The group decides to scale an outer wall once the giant has passed and make their way to a broken window in the keep, getting inside before the giant can see them. With the assistance of Locke's magic, this works perfectly.
Now inside the keep, the group makes for the cellar since it is well out of the reach of a giant. They find a set of prison cells, some of which have corpses in them and one with brown mould. There is also a wine cellar, the wine unfortunately having turned to vinegar. Finally, there are a series of locked doors which lead to a treasury. Locke picks the first lock, and Gunther kicks a hole in the second door after Locke and Grov fail their respective opening methods. After a brief encounter with a mimic, who fails to even put a scratch of damage on anybody, the group loots the room and finds a decent stock of valuables.
Soon, they will explore the rest of the keep, discover the nature of the crystal atop the keep, and perhaps have an encounter with the giant.
