The Talmer - Historians

"Forsooth! Forsooth? Forsooth forsooth forsooth. Foooooorsoooth...The dialogue in this play really needs work."

The Talmer are the clan in charge of religious dealings and record keeping in Kernelle. They see to every other villager's physical and spiritual welfare. The head of the Talmer clan is the head of the village. They take their responsibilities seriously, but do not take themselves seriously. In fact, the Talmer often take joy in participating in plays for other villagers in the public gathering spot. Their comedies are crowd favorites.   During the events of Journey of the Return, the Talmer are in process of writing a new play for the village that will get acted out at the end of the main story.

Structure

Like all clans in Kernelle, the Talmer have a maternal and paternal head. The head of the Talmer is the Chief Historian and leader of the whole village.   During the events of Journey of the Return, the current Chief Historian eventually succumbs to Rust Death, and Dack becomes the new Chief.

Culture

Despite being the spiritualists of the village, they are some of the most fun-loving and optimistic clans.

Public Agenda

The Talmer's main role in Kernelle is to keep the history of the people, and to act as spiritual teachers. The Chief Historian is in charge of knowing the full history of Kernelle, and abridging it into scripture.

Assets

Wealth does not play a particular role in Kernelle's society. That said, the historians would be considered one of the wealthier clans in terms of the number of village buildings they own and operate. In addition to the section of the village reserved for their housing, they are also in charge of running the church and graveyard, the post building, the public gardens, and the square where they perform their plays.   In addition to meeting the village's spiritual needs, the Talmer are also trusted as the village's physicians. Unfortunately, knowledge of robot physiology is extremely limited, so there is not much they can typically do for serious conditions like the onset of Rust Death.     The Kenica are typically much more shy than the breeder clansman they work with, often preferring to work through their closest Braxa connection over communicating with other clans directly.
