A Paladin of Ohm, Raphael has a respected military record as a member of the Knights of the Ashen Order. He is viewed by some as a symbol of justice & hope. This reputation has not transitioned into a smooth campaign for Rose Monarch, however. Raphael has spent so much time seeing the world around him in black & white that his introduction into the various shades of gray that is politics has been a very public struggle. While Clan Ivanova is more than confident in his dueling skills, they are considerably less confident about Raphael earning enough public favor to make it to Sacred Combat.
