Surrounded by the Rachni Forest, where spiders build their enormous webs and prey upon man and beast; you will find Hollow Creek. A town of modest size given their geological disability when compared to other towns and cities of the Embershard Kingdom, the people who live here are wise folk who only venture beyond the walls of their town when there is no other choice. When the weather permits it, the river allows the merchants of Hollow Creek to venture from their forested lands and trade silk with the surrounding merchants. This is a substantial necessity for Hollow Creek and without the silk trade that is conducts, Hollow Creek and its people would be doomed.
The town has a diverse population of Humans, Dwarves, gnomes, and the occasional Dragonborn. Most people who live here work with silk or harvest fruit from the orchards of fruit trees.
The Baroness/Baron of Hollow Creek is responsable for a Feudalism government under the Plutocracy of Pluto and the King/Queen.
Hollow Creek has a military numbering some 7,000 men and woman who patrol in shifts at all hours of the night. Standing behind their walls of stone, the walls are 3 ft. thick and 12 ft. high. An 8 ft. spike trap has been dug all the way around the city on the outside of the walls to prevent large spiders and other horrible creatures from entering the city.
Using the rivers, the merchants of Hollow Creek venture out about once every month to trade with the cities of the north. Most people work with the silk in one way or another and without this valuable resource and the people to work with it, the city would have been abandoned long ago.
Hollow Creek is more cut off from the rest of the kingdom than every other city and thus has a smaller market for goods. Items from the Dungeons and Dragons 5E Player Handbook at or below 25gp is available to buy. Although special orders may arranged (on the discretion of the DM).
The following items taken from the Tomb of Annihilation for Dungeons and Dragons 5e are also available:
1. Canoe
2. Insect Repellent
3. Rain Catcher
The Monster Hunter Kit found on page 209 from the Curse of Strahd for Dungeons and Dragons 5e is also available
Stone roads and water mills are some of the most useful features of Hollow Creek but it is not their only innovations. A full sewer system runs under the sloped city streets and bridges have been constructed over tributaries that flow threw town.
Silk is the most valuable asset for the city and it is gathered along the edges of the forest around the town. Guards watch over workers and keep anything from attacking the folk who are pulling the silk from the trees. Silk bought from hollow creek costs 10gp for every 9 Sq. feet.
Most buildings and even the wall are made with both wood and stone. These are easy resources to come by in the Rachni Forest and allows repairs or even complete remodels to happen quickly and cheaply.
With the town of Hollow Creek being in the Rachni Forest, one can assume that getting there from somewhere else is no easy task. Rangers who hunt along its borders are often hired to lead and guide those who seek to venture here.
