The Totem of the Sleeper

A mysterious item discovered by Fionn and The Kaechaek Party in the forests within the Shadewoods after Peregrine spotted a group of Spores in a chain leading to it.
Fionn chose to keep the totem of the sleeper in his bag of holding... notably not revealing to the party what it was and claiming he found nothing at the end of the chain.
The totem of the sleeper is a triangular shaped totem roughly the size of a human forearm that, on one side has a queen chess piece made of nightmare skin, on another side it has a king chess piece design made of bone and a red crystallised blood piece matching the design of a pawn. All three pieces were damaged at the top as though someone had gone out of their way to disfigure it with a spiked blunt instrument.
Mechanics: The totem of the sleeper: Wondrous Item (Requires attunement)   A deep, marked and profound item formerly possessed by She Who Walks the Line/They Who Speak to the Rest  and then their mirrored pole The Sleeping King. This totem is similar to a three sided chess piece set in a waxing gibbous shape and measuring as long as a forearm. One side has a defaced queen chess piece (clad in the skin of a nightmare, giving it a deep, breathable, black colour), one side has a defaced king chess piece (in the shining white of boiled bone) and the final side is that of a defaced pawn (set in the red hue of hardened and crystallised blood).   The defacement are all represented by dents to their tops as though a small spiked ball was taken to each of them multiple times... as though the maker was afeared of the face they designed...   When attuned to the totem of the sleeper, the user gains 3 sorcery points and the Lunar Pareidolia metamagic.
  • Lunar Pareidolia: You force an individual to interpret the myriad of meanings in your arcana. When you cast a spell that targets a creature, you can spend 3 sorcery points to force that creature to interpret one of the following:
  • -Fear: The creature becomes frightened of you until the end of their next turn.   -Bravery: The creature overcomes the frightened condition.   -Nonsense: The creature interprets madness and strangeness inherently as your spell strikes them... roll once on the wild magic table for that creature.
