Unmarked Shrines

There are many isolated villages in the Taru Mountains. Although the mountains have many monasteries, it is impractical for inhabitants of these villages to attend them for services. For centuries now, these resourceful peasants have been seeing to their own spiritual needs by building small shrines throughout their villages and on the paths leading to and from them. These shrines are typically a simple stone pillar with a small altar at bottom where offerings can be left. The shrines are completely unmarked, as most of the mountain folk are illiterate and everyone in the village knows which shrine venerates which Fortune anyway.
