Malthet (Mahl-thet)

Sorrow Queen

Malthet is a goddess associated with art, suffering, love, and blood. She is primarily worshipped by artists hoping to evoke some of her artistic skill, and by those seeking to make golems and constructs. Most, however, view Malthet as a tragic figure and though her worship can be found all over, few center their lives around worshipping her.

Artifacts

The golem G'shos could be considered Malthets greatest creation, a golem made of solid truesteel powerful enough to act as a god himself. However, Malthet's perfectionism and obsessive drive means she has not stopped making more masterpieces since his creation.   Most of Malthet's artifacts are powerful golems, many of which gained sentience of their own and follow their own goals as creatures rivaling demigods. Though she is their creator, Malthet seems to have no interest in ruling or guiding them, and they have been scattered across the world in various fashions. Some act as protectors of cities, others as adventurers and sages.   It is said that artists who embody the same drive and passion that Malthet does may gain her favor, and be gifted one of her many creations.

Personal history

It is said that Malthet was once in love with a wind goddess, Onkke. So deep was her dedication and obsession that Malthet drove her lover away. Spiraling into a deep depression, Malthet sought to win back her love by creating the greatest arts in the world.   Weaving her own blood into her creations, she painted masterpieces and sculptures grand enough to stun even gods. It is said her creations were so perfect in their making that they gained life of their own and became the first golems, including G'shos.   To this day, Malthet crafts her gifts of love for Onkke, and weeps at what she has lost.
