Bioware

The second and most common form of modification, bioware is designed to work in conjunction with the body, rather than replacing it. Taking anatomy and physiology into account, bioware is grafted onto the body to enhance it. Bioware can have some non-organic components, but the enhancement itself improves a biological function, rather than replacing the biological component with technology like with cybernetics. Bioware has little impact on one’s physical appearance and since it enhances rather than replaces, it is a more seamless integration with the body, placing less stress on it and having less complications. Nanotech is a type of bioware that revolves around microscopic robots called nanites. These nanties are injected into the bloodstream where they travel around the body carrying out specific functions, such as drawing oxygen from water, allowing the user to breathe underwater.
