Ahsh Woods

Description

The Ahsh Woods derive their name partially from the Ashen Plains that are to it's west. The constant cloud of ash that hovers over the plains has also had some effect on the Ahsh Wood. Wind regularly carries Ash particles into the forest, covering everything in a fine, gray layer of ash. This means that depending on the direction of the wind on any given day, the forest might appear normal or totally black and white.
Many legends surround this place. Mysterious creatures lurking in the deep shadows, bandits worshipping destruction or fiends who lurk in the many caves.

Geography

A large part of the hilly terrain is covered in Pine-Forest. The whole area is littered with caves which harbour all kinds of animals.

Fauna & Flora

The most common trees are Pine-Trees. Not many plants can grow in an area that gets fully covered in ash every couple of days. Those that can are sturdy or use the trees as cover. Vines and tough weeds are the most common.
Many of the common forest animals avoid this forest but many creatures that build their nests or lairs in caves are perfectly suited to survive under these kinds of conditions.
