Laios and Jokaste Crowned in Thebai

Political event

1082α4

Prince Laios returns from exile to claim the throne of Thebai. He weds Jokaste, daughter of Menoikeus, and names Kreon as his Chief Magistrate. Teiresias is confined to the Tower of Helios.

Brought out of legacy and absolved of certain unsavory crimes, the last surviving prince of the deposed Kadmaian Dynasty is placed back onto the Theban throne. The deal is sealed with his marriage to Jokaste, and by the appointment of Kreon to be his Chief Magistrate. Jokaste and Kreon are the only children of Lord Menoikeus, head of the Spartoi bloodline of Echion, which is restored to its prominent role by the arrangement.   The blind seer Teiresias is brought to foretell the future for the new royal couple in a private ceremony. Whatever Teiresias says is so badly received that he is ordered to be confined to the Tower of Helios for the rest of his life.
