An island with an extensive mining operation that offers the area's largest source of copper for the manufacture of bronze, and also an exporter of cattle. Home to a kingdom of great wealth and economic power, a trading partner with Hellas, Aigiptos, Anatolia, and Mesopotamia, with prominent cities at Enkomi and Kalavasos. Imports attested by Linear B clay tablets include silver and ivory.
