Graeflin

Pffft. I'm not that drunk, old man. Graeflin are a myth. You've just had a wee bit more liquor than's good for you. Take a seat and sleep it off, why don't you. I'll even shut the door if it'll help you rest easier. Aue, you've really taken that whiskey badly now haven't you?   Oh, tried to match wits with it my foot. You weren't gone more than a minute. Put your feet up and close your eyes, you'll feel better after a little nap.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Graeflin stand at 2-3 metres tall and have no discernable features other than their basic body structure. They have similar morphology to an adult human, with two arms and legs, but lack toes and have abnormally long fingers and short palms. Their legs have two knee-like joints, but the purpose of the second one is unclear.   No other features of the Graeflin are known. Their skin is a uniform, unblemished grey, with no bumps or markings. They have no visible sensory organs and it is unknown how they get food.

Genetics and Reproduction

Unknown.

Growth Rate & Stages

Graeflin have never been found shorter than 2 metres, which could indicate that height does not show age. However, few other obvious differences have been noted either, and given that reports of graeflin are few and far between they have never been close enough for direct comparison

Dietary Needs and Habits

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Unknown.  Appear to be very sparsely distributed.

Average Intelligence

Most accounts portray graeflin as highly intelligent, able to outwit all who meet them. It is thought that they are able to spellwrite, showing that they have innate creative intelligence as well as logical reasoning and thought.  Most accounts of graeflin portray them as sapient.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Graeflin must be able to perceive their environment somehow if the accounts of their activities are to be believed. However, due to no obvious sensory organs nobody knows how they do in fact perceive their environment. Theories include some sort of sound-based sensing, visual perception even without eyes, and some more outlandish including the ability to sense life and unlife around them or completely magical perception. Graeflin are able to speak and interpret information, which implies that they must have some sort of auditory perception.

Civilization and Culture

History

Graeflin are a strange and ill-documented species. No confirmed sighting of one has ever been made, and their association with myth and legend cloud any possible objective truths about their existence.   The first recording of a graeflin encounter is thought to be the poem A Rainy Stranger , written by an unknown author. This poem tells of the graeflin through the lens of a lost traveler, and is thought to be somewhat autobiographical. Among other things, the poem describes the graeflin as follows;
Grey and tall, it made me stall In the middle of the rain The rain upon it still did fall But the drops left on it no stain.
Due to the nature of the text little is known about what the observer truly saw. The poem is thought to be from the late pre-century, but it is unknown whether or not graeflin were extant in Mythia before this date.   Later sightings of graeflin have been scattered and show no clear pattern of the encounter. They are variously reported by drunks, traveling players, or hikers, but all seem to occur when the observer is moving to or from somewhere, often at night. One exception to this rule can be found in the tales of the young Notorious Kales, when he is caught in the town of Lashta.   Graeflin are treated predominantly as children's tales and are not taken seriously by many

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Graeflin colouring has never been recorded in pictorial form, but most agree that it is a uniform shade of grey.  Some accounts compare the colouring to stone, while others point to wool or in some cases iron.
