Holoi'Mohala - The Procession of Blossoms
What Is It?
Holoi'Mohala, known as the Procession of Blossoms, is a vibrant six-day parade celebrated during Ho'olaule'Namohala, the Celebration of Blossoming Blooms. This enchanting event features hundreds of exquisite flowers, leaves, pieces of wood and vines meticulously arranged into hina'pua, or flower baskets, which are elegantly drawn around the Shrine of Mohala'Ma by intricately crafted leaf horses. As the procession winds through, enthusiastic spectators shower it with blades of grass, flower petals, and buds, all while serenading their goddess with joyful songs.
The atmosphere is filled with the sweet scent of fresh flowers and delicious food, and the vibrant colours create a breath-taking spectacle of pinks, greens, whites and yellows. Each participant wears traditional attire adorned with flowers, leaves and vines, embodying the spirit of unity and reverence for the glory of nature.
