Sovereigns Rank/Title in Myriad | World Anvil

Sovereigns

You see, I put a bit of my magic into these cookies, it's called love. I've become quite the baker since I became the Sun Sovereign in Arixia I mean look at these! Haha! This one has a little smiling sun on it! Perfect for you!
— Feidunn, the New Dawn at the end of his 3 hour chat about Sovereignty.
The Sovereigns are the deities of the world of Myriad, named so for the noble rule they hold over their individual domains.   The magic of Myriad grows and changes like a living organism, with each position of Sovereignty being like a heart or blossom born from the flow of magic. The Sovereigns may reign over their domain, but their positions are not unique to them. Much like the crown of a monarch, it can be taken, usurped, or passed on.

The way magic is utilised by a world has a direct effect over the domains a world's Sovereigns may hold. Where some may have a focus upon the machines and technology of their world, others may be more in tune with the world itself, gaining their domains from the environment instead. The domain a Sovereign may hold is innumerable, and may shift as domains are passed from one to another.

In the thousands of years prior to the Crossing War, Arixia did not have Sovereigns. When the portal was created between Myriad and Arixia, the gift of magic was introduced to Arixia. Due to their unique connection, Myriad directly affects the way magic is distributed through Arixia, feeding magic across the worlds.

Tells
Each Sovereign has a tell of their Sovereignty. This could be things such as Kaleyha's wolf-like eyes or Tokal's radiance.

Glad to get to read more about them! I figured they were some sort of deity, but this helps give some more nuance to what that means in Myriad!
