Fogwalkers Profession in Myriad | World Anvil

Fogwalkers

In the town of Went, there is a guild known as the Fogwalkers. These Fogwalkers are specialized in going into the Foglands to harvest rare flora, fauna and materials that may be needed from the Foglands. Having lived so close to the Foglands their whole lives, many children in Went grew up knowing they were going to be a Fogwalker. There are monthly excursions into the Foglands by the Fogwalkers, where they travel into the Foglands and collect valuable items such as artifacts, Fogland Crystals and relics of a civilization that once resided there. They also act as guides to those that seek to learn the ways of the Foglands and the things that live there. This designation is fairly dangerous with a 35% fatality rate amongst Fogwalkers. Usually, its just newer members who act first and think about it after, resulting in an untimely death at the hands of the various atrocities that live amonst the fog.

General Information

Most of the Fogwalkers tend to not live very long, or retire earlier than most. The job is dangerous and you need to be nimble and strong for the journey. There are a few of the leaders of the Fogwalkers that are fairly elderly and they act more as guides for the younger Fogwalkers. The guided tours of the Foglands are generally safer, as they dont go too far into the Foglands and give people an idea of what the area is like. The demand for this job isnt fairly high but it is considered a lucrative opportunity if a position does arise. The pay is fairly good considering you make profit off of whatever you bring back from the Foglands. The Fogwalkers are considered higher up in the social ladder in Went specifically. Not many people outside of Went actually know about the Fogwalkers and their purpose except for the very rich and academic people.

35% Mortality rate. *The Irish in me calculating* So your saying 65% chance of great success? Those are fair and reasonable odds, anyone whom says otherwise is a liar. Lets go!
