Rotenwald
Known world-wide as the "City of cups", Rotenwald is a city that does not sleep. It is a city of commerce, revelry and an incredibly hardworking lower and middle class. Morale is typically rather high in the streets for the commonfolk, and if you have coin to spend, the service industry will ensure you never see a frown while you are in their presence. The bartenders, dancers, musicians...they will all bend over backwards to ensure you patronize their establishments time and time again.
When getting a pint in this city, the locals will order a "rohter". There are three major brewing companies in this city, none of them friendly with one another, operating in a similar fashion to small-time criminal syndicates.
The atmosphere in the city is generally rather jovial for an empire city. Think permanent Oktoberfest. There is an increased patrolling presence from the city guard due to the nature of the city, as with more drunk people walking about there is more thievery. The criminal underworld in Rotenwald is thriving and powerful, the central thieve's guild in Tor. While it is quite the party city, the majority of the locals are fairly poor folk who work very hard and are typically impressed with modest spending. A few gold here and there can get much adoration and attention.
Demographics
The lower class makes up the majority of the population here, with modest portion of middle class as well. The highborn are typically less frequent, and keep themselves to a certain part of the city, unless wanting to experience the cultures of their lessers. There is a fairly even spread of all common civilized races, and the occasional infrequently seen race, such as Tabaxi and Aarakocra. The predominant race is human, though not by much.
Industry & Trade
This city grows crops to use specifically in the brewing of alcohol, but produces more than enough to feed the surrounding countryside. While there is a lot of coin made on tourism, the chief commodity is exporting the many alcoholic beverages. The many of the drinks crafted here are sold world-wide, some very fine and others mediocre but cheap.
Architecture
The buildings in the city are a fair combination of wood and stone, consisting of 1-2 floors at most. There is the occasional building that reaches higher, but they are few and far between. The city is rather sprawling, as there was no shortage of land to build upon when the city was young.
Geography
The surrounding area is flat plains, farmland. The city sits on a fresh water lake on its western edge, and a river passes through that stretches all the way to the capital city. It is quaint, not quite as scenic as the rest of Highlands of Tor, but the city proper and it's atmosphere is what attracts travelers from far and wide.
